There is a passage in Cormac McCarthy's The Road in which a man and his son talk about holding on to their humanity in a barren world, acknowledging that it's up to them to carry the fire. And in McCarthy’s No Country for Old Men, an aging sheriff tells his wife about a dream. His father has ridden out ahead of him into the cold, into the darkness, carrying fire in a hollowed horn — an ancient vessel, the oldest human technology. The sheriff knows that when he arrives, his father will have built a fire and that he'll be waiting for him. Those two images are among the reasons Evermakers exists. And they are where our flame comes from. In every dark passage of human history, there have been people who understood that their role was to carry something forward: the knowledge, the beauty, the ways of seeing. They passed it across the darkness for those who will arrive next. We are at the beginning of another such passage. The fire needs people who will carry it out there. That is who this place is for.

continues to evolve.

The Novel That Started It All

The momentum behind Evermakers began with investigation for a novel. Beyond the Fall is a work of literary dystopia set in a nearly-here world where automation and AI have reshaped how people live, work, and find meaning. Writing it required deep exploration of where artificial intelligence is taking us and what it costs to remain human in a world that questions the value of humanity. That exploration is what brought Evermakers to life.

At the beginning of every age is a turning point. This is ours. Ahead of us lies a new era with the potential for both progress and disintegration. The future is always unknown, but what we can be sure of is that change is coming and with it, turbulence.

When you see the world shudder and you hear the ground rumble, you might feel like creativity is a luxury, but the truth is it’s one of the most essential responses we have.

Our creative culture helps us understand what’s happening. It helps sustain our humanity in a climate of chaos. It encourages us to imagine fresh alternatives to whatever is broken.

When old structures collapse, creative people are called upon to build what comes next.
